Evaluating Listings

How to approach a job listing

Explicit sponsorship statements are the strongest signal. When they’re absent, location data — HPSA, MUA, and IGA program coverage — tells you what a job posting often won’t.

1

Check for explicit sponsorship

If the listing states it sponsors H-1B or J-1 waiver, that is the definitive signal. A blue or green visa badge means the employer has committed in writing. Start here every time.

2

HPSA & MUA shortage area badges

A teal HPSA or MUA badge means the practice site is federally designated as underserved — a requirement for Conrad 30 waiver eligibility and a key criterion for several IGA programs.

3

IGA program availability

Federal regional commissions — ARC, DRA, SCRC, NBRC — can sponsor J-1 waivers with no annual cap. Each listing shows which IGA programs are active in that area, so you know your options beyond Conrad 30.

4

Filter by specialty, state & visa type

Select your specialty and state above, then use the visa type, HPSA, and IGA filters on the results page to surface only listings that match your pathway — no manual cross-referencing required.
